Are you at risk of developing oral cancer?
Oral cancer can occur without warning, even for those who maintain excellence oral and overall health. Our team provides our patients with oral cancer screens in order to protect their oral health and curb any potential harmful dental conditions from developing.
Whilst cancer can occur across all different people at various health levels, there are a number of specific habits that have been associated with the development of this condition. These are factors such as:
- Smoking: Tobacco use is associated with a vast percentage of oral cancer cases. The inhalation or chewing of tobacco can significantly increase your risk of developing oral cancer.
- Alcohol: The consumption of alcohol has been strongly linked with oral cancer. The risk can increase in-step with the amount of your usual consumption, in addition to the combination of alcohol and tobacco use.
- Sun: Lip cancer has been associated with unprotected sun exposure.
- Genetic factors: If cancer is predominant throughout your family, you may be at a higher risk of developing oral cancer.
